My submission to 's Pokemorphs project. I had promised I'd throw in a quartet of my creations, old and new and from different settings and I aim to keep this promise.

While many Smeargle are satisfied just looking to their tails for their source of art, Floritt was born and raised to use her whole being as her means of expression. A good deal of this comes from the fact that Floritt's an orphan raised as the only female daughter of a family of Fighting-types. Her family has been one of her greatest inspirations in terms of self-expression, with her brother and best friend Hakim (a Hitmontop) being the biggest one of all thanks to his graceful, Capoeira-like style and his sense of humor. And while Floritt's dream to be as good a fighter as the rest of her family is somewhat marred by the fact that she's a Normal-type, she's willing to keep on trying her best for the sake of her art. Hopefully she'll find her means of doing so by signing up with Team Crossroads.

As both one of the newer members of Team Crossroads and the Johto representative, Floritt has her work cut out for her. First off, her current training has been more Contest-oriented than anything else, meaning she has the bad habit of focusing more on making her moves look nice than on actually defeating her opponent, a fact that annoys the other members far too much. Because of that, she sides with Nigel the Gardevoir as the group's second supporter, distracting the competition with a mix of the Fighting-Type moves she's learned over the years (Rolling Kick an Rapid Spin, courtesy of her brother's teaching) and those she has Sketched into memory from past encounters or even fellow teammates (particularly Nigel's Reflect, at the leader Meg's request). Floritt's the second-fastest member of the team and definitely the most spirited of the bunch, which makes her a valued member not just for her abilities, but also as the one teammate one can count on to keep the optimism level high - a much-needed element for making this team work.

Let me get this out of the way first: Yes, I used a Googled-up photo reference for the pose, as I wanted to emphasize the fact that she's s Smeargle was partially trained to fight by a Hitmontop and there was no better way to do it than to have her show off some Capoeira moves.

Floritt, like Meg, is a character I've had for a long while. Amusingly, both were made with a Pokemon school setup in mind, though me failing at making the idea more concrete, they kinda just collected dust for a while until I started using them in RPs and stuff. With this new project around, though, I can take Floritt back to her roots as a student.

Why the Hitmontop moves on her? Two reasons: One, while back I learned that Smeargle, according to the PokeDex and the anime, have a footprint marked on their back by a fellow Smeargle for when they reached maturity. The thought quickly crossed my mind of what would it be like for a Smeargle to have the footprint of ANOTHER pokemon placed back there instead? Add this, plus the fun excuse to have one with it's paintbrush-tail just flying about, and you got the makings of a pokemorph I have a great deal of fondness of. I'll see if I can do a pic of her exposing her Hitmontop-print back someday.
