Young Panthercap

Quicky drawing that I wanted to finish up...and it even comes with backstory.

Several decades ago, there was once a young Shroomish named Rubén A. Panthercap with aspirations of joining the Monchan Boxing League. He had the talent, determination and skills to back him up and, by the time he had evolved into a Breloom during his Junior years, was able to make the top ten indy combatants in the whole school. Unfortunately for him, though, his academic grades were less-than-stellar, so much so he found himself forced into a team during his Junior years to help make up the grades needed to graduate.

Panthercap joined Team Dynamax as an alternate, later on becoming a full-fledged member of the team after some disputes forced one of the former members into leaving. Around that time he had befriended the team's leader, a Shiftry named Yuri and became close friends, lovers by the time they graduated. It was in college when Yuri and Panthercap met Destine Ritter the Gardevoir, becoming fast friends.

Time passed and Yuri and Panthercap's relationship started to suffer as the two wished to marry, but certain obstacles kept them from doing so, one of them being the Breloom's dream of being a pro fighter and Yuri wanting to settle down. The arguments became fights, the fights eventually led to heartbreak...and to Panthercap's horror, lead to Yuri's death due to an illness Panth was never told about until it was too late.

Grief-stricken and with his want to become a pro boxer completely shot, the Breloom was at a crossroads...until an old college friend of his and Yuri offered him a job. "I know this is far from an ideal replacement for all that you've lost, dear Panth," said the newly-married Destine Garkirl, "but perhaps until you find your true place in mind, you can come work for me." Panth eventually accepted, becoming the Garde's butler, bodyguard, cook and Joshua's tutor after the boy evolved into a Gallade.

"Panthercap, dear...it has been years you have remained with us. You remember what the agreement was, do you not?"

"I do indeed, Madame--"

"Destine will do, we're not in formal company after all."

"Forgive me. As I was going to say, yes I remember your offer quite well...but if you recall, Destine, you told me I was to stay until I found my true place in life. The thing is...I already have."
